As the first female mayor of San Juan, Felisa Rincón de Gautier was a trailblazer for women in Puerto Rican politics. She was known for her dedication to social causes such as women’s suffrage, as well as her flair for personal style, and for her Christmas initiatives, which included having planeloads of snow flown in for local children.
